Do you get enough sleep, yet still feel tired during the day?It could be that you're not drinking enough water. Really!
Think about this – two-thirds of our body weight is water. Blood is 83% water, muscles 75%, our brain 74%, and our bones 22%. It only seems natural, then, that these vital parts of our body need water in order to function properly.
As a gauge for whether or not you're drinking enough water, try to consume half of your body weight in ounces of water each day. For instance, a person who weighs 150 pounds should drink 75 ounces of water – which breaks down to roughly seven 12 oz. glasses per day.
What's that? You don't like to drink water?
Well, you're not alone, but drinking enough water will do the following good things for your body:
* Improve energy and increase mental and physical performance
* Remove toxins and break down nutrients
* Keep skin and eyes healthy and beautiful
* Help you lose weight
* Reduce headaches and dizziness, especially during allergy season
* Help digestion
If you struggle to choke down water, it might be hard to drink a glass of it first thing in the morning – but you really should try! Drinking water is a momentum thing for a lot of people. Start with consistent sips until you get into a rhythm that your body can handle.
Also, it's especially important to drink water if you consume a lot of soda, coffee and tea. These drinks contain large amounts of caffeine, which dehydrates the body.
So next time you feel tired and sluggish – no matter what time of day it might be – review your water intake. And give the recommended daily amount a try. You'll be surprised at how good you feel!
